Research on battery energy storage peak-shaving and valley-filling siting and capacity setting methods

  • In view of the increasing demand for electricity and the uneven distribution of electricity resulting in the peak-to-valley load difference, this paper proposes a battery energy storage for peak-shaving and valley-filling site selection and capacity determination method. Firstly, we establish the site adaptation index, calculate and rank the adaptation index after obtaining the continuous load curve from the daily load curve, and determine the optimal installation location of energy storage; secondly, we consider the peak regulation effect and system economy,establish the capacity optimization model with the comprehensive cost of energy storage and the absolute peakvalley difference of load, and solve the model by using the hawk swarm algorithm to obtain the optimal capacity of energy storage, and use the evaluation index to evaluate the optimized results. Finally, experimental simulations are conducted with the measured load data of a provincial power grid, and the results show that the proposed method can select the optimal installation location for different loads and reduce the peak-to-valley difference of the power grid through the optimal capacity allocation, which has good peak regulation effect and system economy.
