Research on a multiple converter for wind power connected to medium voltage DC distribution network

  • The DC distribution network has advantages such as low line loss, high reliability, and easy access to distributed power sources, energy storage, and DC loads. For the scenario of distributed energy access to DC distribution networks, this paper proposes a multiplex converter topology structure suitable for wind power access. The system voltage/current harmonic characteristics are derived and analyzed from mathematical relationships.Detailed control strategies including system power control, submodule voltage control, and active filter control are designed, and the submodule capacitance value is theoretically designed. Building a wind power connected to a medium voltage direct current distribution network system on the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation platform to simulate and verify the control strategy proposed in this paper. The simulation results show that this multiple converter can effectively improve the harmonic characteristics of the AC side of the system while reducing costs and occupying space, resulting in high power quality on the AC side. It is of great significance for the consumption of distributed energy and improving the stability of the distribution network.
